Wentworth Anderson Valley Pinot Noir 2022 750 ML

$50

43 bottles in stock

Made with organically and regeneratively farmed grapes from Wentworth’s Estate vineyards. Handpicked on September 22nd and 25th of 2022.  Each lot was fermented in open top fermenters utilizing native yeast.  80% destemmed grapes and 20% wholeclusters went into fermenters.  A mix of punchdowns and pumpovers were employed during primary fermentation. The wine subsequently underwent malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels, most of which were neutral oak barrels with approximately 22% new oak and 22% second-fill barrels utilized additionally. Twice racked.  The wine was bottled on August 16th, 2023 unfined and unfiltered.

Although labeled Anderson Valley, the cuvee is 100% Estate Grown wine made from grapes primarily grown at Nash Mill Vineyard (NMV).  NMV is located within a small cold-air drainage or combe at the intersection of Mill Creek and Little Mill Creek in the Anderson Valley AVA’s Deep End- which is the most coastally influenced portion of the appellation.  The vineyard was first planted in 2003 and has been farmed utilizing organic methods exclusively since it was purchased by Katie and Mark X. Wentworth in 2017.  The Pinot Noir vines which contributed to this are a mix of Dijon clones 115, 667, and 943 as well as Pommard 5.  The site’s Pinot Noir blocks are located at elevations between 400 and 520 feet in elevation, twelve miles from the Pacific.  The soils are predominantly clay-loam in the Ornbaum-Zeni complex.  A mix of coast redwoods, Douglas firs, madrones, and live oaks surround the vineyard with some nearby eucalyptus trees.

94 Wine Enthusiast:

"This lively wine offers aromas of youthful berries, red plums, dried herbs, florals and sea breeze. Flavors are of fresh strawberry, raspberry, yellow plum, sea salt and black tea, interwoven with pink grapefruit zest, dried sage and a dry, supple finish. Decant and pair with grilled lamb loin and seasonal berry relish." -Tonya Pitts, Wine Enthusiast
