Distilled for Dryness: Brugal‰۪s distillation removes many of the heavy alcohols that give other rums their sweetness, resulting in a clean, dry and smooth spirit. Aged for Smoothness: Double-wood aged for 6-8 years in White American Oak Casks, followed by 2-4 years in first-filled Spanish Sherry Oak Casks that are hand selected by the Master of wood for the world‰۪s finest Single Malt Scotch Whisky. More evocative of a single malt then a sweet sipping rum, people often call it ‰ÛÏThe Rum for Whisky lovers‰.
Rich and full, with golden syrup, Demerara and a hint of treacle. This 8 years old rum, product of the Batch distillation process, has reassuringly weighty oak in the background - polished mahogany notes. Hints of cinnamon, over-ripe oranges or orange liqueur and bitter dark chocolate. Amazingly smooth, gentle texture - like being stroked with a silk glove. Chocolate velvetiness on the palate, with creamy oak spice and citrus notes counteracting the syrupy sweetness. Asweet cocoa caress, with shimmering spices.
Inspired by the boundless travels of Ernest Hemingway, Papa’s Pilar Dark boasts a bold mouth, long finish and a complex flavor profile, hell-bent on returning rum to its gutsy roots. This artisan-crafted spirit is sourced from hand-selected rum spanning the Caribbean, U.S. and Central America, aged up to 24 years, and solera blended by our master blending team in Bourbon barrels, Port Wine casks, finishing in Spanish Sherry casks. Papa’s Pilar Dark is bold and well-traveled; just like Papa.
