Ludwigs Fine Wine
Wright & Brown Bottled in Bond Single Malt 750ml
Made from a mashbill of 100% malted barley grown in California, Washington and Ireland. Wright & Brown mills, mashes, ferments, distills, barrel-ages and bottles it on site. Like all of their products, it is made with exclusively non-GMO grains. This one really stands out because it is their oldest whiskey to date, having been barrel aged for the last 4 and a half years.
Bottled-in-Bond is highly sought after designation. It must be made by the same distiller, in the same distilling season, aged more than 4 years in oak barrels in our federally bonded warehouse and bottled at 100 proof (50% alcohol by volume.) It is a designation that speaks to true artisanal quality, purity and vintage. They distilled their inaugural batch in 2015, soon after they opened for production. Since then it has been resting and maturing 53 gallon charred oak casks.
Like all their whiskies, they made it with their 250 gallon Vendome all-copper pot still. It is rich and malty with notes of dark chocolate and toasted coconut with a sweet caramel finish. At 100 proof, it has a nice level of heat and a long, lingering finish.
The Wright & Brown Single Malt is a true rarity. Of all the American whiskies out there, it is, to our knowledge, only the second ever Bottled-in-Bond American Single Malt and the only one available on the West Coast!
