 Fragrant and delicately earthy, this wine smells and tastes like a premier cru Vosne-Romanee. Rich and suave with beautifully integrated tannins, making this a joy to drink now. But this is a wine with great aging potential.  (2/2018)

100% Pinot Noir
The village is located at the heart of the Côte de Nuits, between Vougeot and Nuits-Saint-Georges. The vines grow at an ideal altitude of approximately 250 metres and cover just over 150 ha. The soil is clay-limestone based and the vines are 40 years old. In the old local dialect, “jacquine” meant “crow” which refers to the wide range of birds found in the area.

Vineyard selection and management
Grapes for this wine were chosen based on specific characteristics: the vines are old with low yields due to severe disbudding, green harvest if needed, working of the soil, limited use or absence of fertilizers, environmentally friendly pest management, respecting beneficial wildlife. The vines are 50 years old.

Vinification and maturing
Harvest date: September the 19th 2014. The grapes were handpicked and collected in 20-kg perforated crates. They were sorted a first time in the vineyard and a second time on the sorting table when they arrived at the winery. At the winery: 50% whole clusters and 50% destemmed grapes and were gravity-fed into tanks. Maceration lasted a total of 19 days including one week of cold maceration (12°C). Fermentation used indigenous yeasts only (no additives such as enzymes or tannins were used). Infrequent punching of the cap (8 maximum). In the cellar: aged on the lees for 16 months with no racking using a proportion of 30% new French oak barrels that had been toasted at low temperatures for a long time to impart a very delicate touch of oak to the wine. Bottling: the wine was not fined, but was very gently filtered before being bottled using gravity in January 2016.

Tasting Notes
Visual: bright ruby red with purple highlights
Nose: aromas of spices, black fruits, coffee and a humus touch. At first, a slight reduction can be perceived.
Palate: soft tannins, we find aromas of undergrowth in the mouth
