Oak aged imperial stout fermented in open oak vats with dates, jaggery and vanilla beans. The most regal of stouts. Brewed to commemorate the 18th batch of our new brewery in Warkworth, New Zealand.
This barrel-aged wild ale is named for our San Francisco neighborhood and pays tribute to the Flanders Red style of beer. Aged in wine barrels, this lightly tart ale is brewed with California Rainier cherries using a house blend of wild yeasts, bacteria and SF sourdough yeast. Pair this complex ale with ripe figs & blue cheese or seafood bouillabaisse.
Citrus and beer have always made a great pair, ever since the first lemon wedge was added to a cold wheat beer. Here we expand on that tradition in a new way, melding the intensely aromatic zest of Buddha’s Hand citrons with the bracing tartness of Bergamot oranges in a sour blonde ale aged in wine barrels. Pair with sushi or flakey white fish or contrast with earthy roasted root vegetables.
We selected the very best hand-picked blueberries grown in the hills of Butte County, California, and added them to a sour golden ale aged in wine barrels. The resulting beer is infused with a delicate blueberry essence, a reminder of far off summer days.
Double IPA aged in French oak Chardonnay barrels with Brett. Deep within the tortured aberrations of a monk‰۪s mind there lay a concept of a Holy Grail of beer -- a beer oft imagined but never tasted, strived for but never achieved. It‰۪s Belgian heritage manifested in its yeasty complexity, softened and rounded in its cooperage Fran̤ais and made to sparkle like the stars first seen by his distant predecessor Dom P̩rignon. Bitter Monk Belgian Double IPA is such a beer. Redolent of citrusy hop bittering and massive malt infusion, this is a beer to ponder, to sip, and, even for a monk, to dream. Why then is the monk so bitter? What provokes that sly smile? What is he wearing under that flowing robe? A triple-fermented beer gives him three times the mystery. Remember, anything worth doing is worth over doing. Nothing exceeds like excess. Even for the cloistered. And what rough monk, his hour come round at last, slinks slowly toward Brussels to be reborn.
A light blonde ale, very drinkable thanks to its soft acidity and light body. Refreshing, with notes of tropical fruit. It is dry-hopped and spiced with thyme after barrel aging (about 5-6 months) to give it a unique character."
